Bathroom remodels provide 60 to 70 percent resale returns as a home improvement project. However, this project isn’t cheap. It is essential to plan your remodeling ideas ahead of time. Then, hire a remodeling contractor for the job. Ask questions, set realistic expectations, get accurate cost estimates and budgeting from the start. Also spend time learning how to work with a bathroom contractor.
I have been trying to find an honest contractor to do 1) tar roof vent pipes on a good roof 2) remodel my small 6'x8' bathroom. I was so shocked at what these 'devil people' came up with. The roof guy said he wants $1100 to repair some caulking around vent pipes and fix 6 nails that popped. I told him to try somewhere else and bough my own 24 foot ladder!! The bathroom contractors were worse. I had 3 estimates - first guy wanted already $500 just to come up with a design and it was NOT REFUNDABLE if we did not go with him. I showed him the door. THe next guy asked us to come to his showroom and he was not prepared at all. He did not know how to use the computer to show us details of his/our ideas, but came with a breakdown of items in the bathroom we could buy. He then came ups with a price of $25000!! After doing research, I see such a small bathroom with simple tile and small vanity, new toilet and replace already standing shower with tile and glass door cost max. $18000 in southern California where people earn double in Virginia. This $18000 makeover was absolutely gorgeous and in a huge bathroom with tub, shower and dressing room!! The third contractor came up with the price of $17,000. This was still way over what it should cost because the bathroom is SO SMALL that two people can not fit in there. What is happening to this USA? Because of the crisis back in 2008/2009, these contractors have all become ripoff artists and make the world what it is today.....how about honesty and kindness. This behavior is a vicious circle and will come back to all one day. Beware.
One of the most common parts of a bathroom remodel is removing the old flooring and installing new flooring. The biggest factor in the cost of this project will be the flooring itself, which can vary wildly in price. The most expensive materials are typically natural stone tiles and upscale porcelain tiles. The cheapest options might be laminate, vinyl or budget ceramic tiles. Installation can be done as a DIY project to further reduce costs, but you may need to rent or calculate how much tile or wood you'll need in order to complete the job. Expect an average cost of $2,995 to replace and install the flooring in your bathroom.
To give you more of an idea of what you'll pay before a contractor gives you an estimate, here are several cost examples for remodels of different size bathrooms, provided by Thumbtack Pro Viewpoint NW, a bathroom remodeler in Vancouver, Washington. Keep in mind each job was specific to that house. The total cost of each project includes all material and labor costs:

If redesigning a bathroom sounds a little bit too much for you then consider executing remodel bathroom ideas on a budget instead. The terms don’t necessarily require you doing a lot of changes in the bathroom that will make spend more money. Implementing remodel bathroom ideas on a budget makes you think creatively on what changes that you can make in the bathroom without you spending too much money.

When you use a bold accessory like an animal skin, you need to make sure that it isn't lost in a bunch of other decor elements. This bathroom uses its neutral, modern design to really give space to the zebra skin rug here. And the great thing about this kind of design is that you can change this one decor element as often as you wish, without having to spend thousands remodeling every time.

You want a company that has time for you and has long-term relationships with its subcontractors. Make sure you and your contractor have the same expectations about how often they will be onsite once the remodel or renovation kicks off. The contractor should be open with you about how long each stage of the project will take, and they should show a good understanding of what factors could potentially push that timeline out.
Another step is repainting the planned new bathroom. Choose soft and bright colors that will be suitable for children’ eyes. Presenting before their eyes a nice bathroom will hopefully invite them going to bath regularly. This is important as not all children are disciplined taking a bath. Some parents are quite dizzy asking for their kids cleaning their dirty bodies in bathroom.

Interior bathroom demolition costs $1,000 to $2,300. Prices can go higher if you’re removing and moving walls to create a different footprint. For the experienced DIYer, this is a good place to save money by doing it yourself or assisting the contractor. However, demo can get expensive quickly if you take out a load bearing wall, cut electrical lines or break a water pipe. Avoid the risk by hiring a pro.

What we refer as decorative items in this point are like flowers, candles, jars to put toys for children. You don’t need to purchase them all. Sometimes you only need to replace the instance to the planned new bathroom. You can put some toys from the children’ rooms to the planned new bathroom. This is a small idea to make your children feeling relaxed while taking a bath.
My bathroom is about 8X8. Received a quote for 17,000.00 just for labor only. Granted they would be gutting entire bathroom. Also plumbing fixtures will be in same place accept toilet moved 4"inches to the left. Air tub will replace current cast iron tub -no separate shower. My material cost will be about 9500.00 . They want half of the labor cost upfront ($8500.00 Demo will be done in one day and I must pay for dumpster. My home is worth about $200K This bathroom will cost a total of approximately $26K Is this a reasonable quote and I this too much overall to spend based on home resale?
The more luxurious the materials for a bathroom remodeling project, the higher your budget will be. Using marble for your counters, custom cabinetry or handpainted ceramic tiles for your new shower walls in the master bathroom will look terrific. But it will also raise your material costs considerably more than installing a laminate countertop and low-end or mid-range tiles.
