According to Remodeling Magazine’s 2019 Cost Vs. Value report an upscale bathroom remodel can cost, on national average, $64,743. That type of upscale remodel would generally expand the existing bath footprint by more than 50 percent and include details such as in-floor heating, high-end faucet, a shower body-spray fixture, a frameless glass enclosure, a freestanding soaking tub, stone countertops and two sinks, two mirrored medicine cabinets with lighting, a separate commode area and a humidity-controlling exhaust fan, general and spot lighting and wall cabinets.
Having an onsite dumpster should be your responsibility if it is something you are going to demand. They aren't cheap. Make suggestions or request a dumpster be included in the bid, but I would never start demanding anything when requesting proposals. They may have their own suggestions. We own a dump trailer and we bring it during demolition to handle the large debris. We have the trailer to avoid having to rent a dumpster on the job. If asked we can share this information, but if you require a dumpster instead we would have to take the time and research getting a dumpster to your house and add in costs we aren't accustomed to adding. That takes time and effort we may just not want to expend to give you a quote. Good contractors are generally very busy.
I have a new home plastic/fiberglass shower stall with a glass door and side panel. Two side are the plastic and it is probably 8' tall. I do not want to enlarge it at all. I want to just replace. It is like an inset that was there when we built the house. Not fancy. It is a white/cream color and I would just like something nicer to replace it. Anyone intrested in the Spring, Texas area.

The prices you quote do not come close to the prices paid in Chicago. Much depends on the cost of labor and whether the unit is in a high rise. The cost of a licensed plumber to do the simplest task can easily be more than $1000 and often is twice that. Labor has also skyrocketed this year in Chicago due to immigration policy. in addition, any changes in locations in a bathroom, turning a shower into a built in and converting the tub to shower, dramatically raise prices.
Another step is repainting the planned new bathroom. Choose soft and bright colors that will be suitable for children’ eyes. Presenting before their eyes a nice bathroom will hopefully invite them going to bath regularly. This is important as not all children are disciplined taking a bath. Some parents are quite dizzy asking for their kids cleaning their dirty bodies in bathroom.

One client may want vinyl flooring and another may want heated floors with custom tile. Do you want a custom shower the most costly or a tub with tile on the walls? Solid surface counters, high-end fixtures or big box quality. Small 5x7 bathrooms can cost almost as much as a larger bathroom. The time to properly build a watertight custom shower is the same regardless of how big a room is or how much your home is worth. Have it done right rather than choose the lowest cost contractor. A years from now when your shower is still working perfectly you will be glad you spent a little more and gave your contractor the time to do excellent work. VInce

Some of the new trends in master bath remodels, according to the NKBA’s 2019 Trend Report, include in-floor heating, app-enabled controls for radiant floors and digital shower valves, floating cabinetry, high-gloss and textured melamine looks, wet rooms with tubs and showers in the same room and a drain in floor and black frames as shower focal points. Transitional-style master bathrooms are currently the most popular bath style at 59% of bathroom remodels, says NKBA, with traditional baths a close second.

While it's easy to replace a light or faucet at a later date, you should have your contractor do the larger tasks at the same time. If you plan to replace the tub and install tile floor, it's best to do that all at once. You may save on labor charges if they can do a few tasks in one day instead of doing these tasks on separate days a few months apart.

As I contractor if I am installing a customers product or supplying my own, I am charging full overhead and profit above the install cost. I try not to allow customers to supply materials and when they do I tack on my overhead and profit in to the labor. Remodeling is one of the most time consuming services and if your not covering your overhead and profit in the materials and labor you will not last long in this business. At the end of the day after all said and done, making a 15% profit is respectable. Think about it, your the designer, the gofer, the physiatrist, the builder, shopper and the banker until you get paid. Never be intimidated to support your price, deliver a quality product and support it with proper pricing. Never let the customer supply there own materials. Movie theaters don't let you bring in your own pop corn, so why should contractors be any different.

It's so competitive out there. I am a Long Island contractor and I be realized lately that clients give you an impression when you give them there costs that you are doing something wrong. I've been in this Busines about 20 years and that avg cost is right there. Also homeowners should also realize if us contractors are using subs for our plumbing and electrical our costs are hire than the guy doing all the work himself. I only used licensed contractors for all my remodeling work.
